Boys Scouts honor Carolyn Hardy with the 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award

The Boy Scouts of America, Chickasaw Council, honored Carolyn Hardy with the 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Boy Scouts of America, Chickasaw Council, honored Carolyn Hardy with the 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award.

At a dinner program at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn Thursday night, she became the first African American and woman to receive that coveted award.

Hardy is president and CEO of Chism Hardy Investments, LLC and Henderson Worldwide Investments, LLC. 

The Boy Scouts of America say the “Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in communities across the United States. Honoring distinguished citizenship delivers a message to our youth that character counts. The lives of distinguished citizens put into place guideposts that serve to inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility, and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest.”

Past recipients include Billy Orgel, Bryan Jordan, Rudi Scheidt, Jack Moore, Billy Dunavant, Lewis Donelson, Dr. Scott Morris, Lester Crain, Jim McGehee, Peter Schutt, The Kemmons Wilson Family, Steve Reynolds, Pitt and Barbara Hyde, and R. Brad Martin.
