MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County isn’t decking the halls this year. They’re decking the “howls!”
Thursday, kids throughout the community were invited to visit the shelter and read holiday stories to animals awaiting adoption. Getting these cute kids and animals together was about more than just a photo opp though. Reading together is mutually beneficial.
“It gives kids the chance to really get back there and kind of bond a little bit with the animals and help kids with their reading and dogs with you know be cool and happy around little kids,” said Ashley Moore, volunteer coordinator with the Humane Society
when the kids were done reading, they made stockings for the pets, and they created ornaments to take home and hang on their tree.
