A local shelter is helping women in need rebuild their lives.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A local shelter is helping women in need rebuild their lives.

LINCS stands for Ladies In Need Can Survive

“There is no woman that’s turned away,” said Wanda Taylor,LINCS Executive Director.

LINCS is a transitional program that provides shelter for womenrebuilding their lives.

“Women who have been battered, overcoming drug addictions, and many of these women are homeless. A lot of the women that we serve, theycome from jail,” said Taylor.

The women stay at the home for a year – attending treatmentprograms, financial seminars, and learning about personal growth.

“A lot of the women we serve, some of them just come with theclothes on their backs. They have very little. When they come in, they’re broken,”said Taylor.

Years ago, Taylor was in that same broken place, so sheunderstands the women.

“I have been able to make some drastic changes in my life tobe able to become the woman I am today,” said Taylor.

She is helping others end drug addictions, reunite with theirchildren, and some, like TaJuana Bratcher, graduate from school.

“My main purpose for coming here was to make sure that when Ileft, I would be a better me,” said Bratcher, a former LINCS resident.

“If we’re going to change lives, we might as well go all theway,” said Taylor.

Roughly 60 women have come through the LINCS home, but they’vehelped hundreds of others in the community.

During the holiday season, they are especially in need of donations, so the women will have gifts to give to their children. LINCS is also in need of mentors. Learn more HERE.
