MLGW Share the Pennies program helps to make 350 local homes more prepared for winter

350 homes in the Memphis area are now prepared for more winter weather.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – 350 homes in the Memphis area are now prepared for more winterweather. It’s all thanks to you.

How you ask? Because of you rounding up your energy bill eachmonth to keep your own home warm.

MLGW – along with the city of Memphis, MIFA, and the TVA – iscelebrating 350 homes being weatherized at no cost to homeowners.

The income-based program helps permanently lessen energy costs forqualifying homeowners through upgrades like insulation and window and doorsealing.

“It’s an important moment because it signifiesthat we’re all working towards a common goal of helping our citizens. We knowthat energy efficiency and full-quality housing is a big issue in thiscommunity. We are working together to try to leverage the resources needed, sothat we can help more people,” said Paul Young, Director of Housing &Community Development.

“Following the improvement, they (the homeowners)have a lot more pride and excitement about being in their homes. So I thinkit’s a big, big deal, and it helps our customers in many ways,” said MLGW CEO J.T.Young.
