MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – One Mid-South school got a little “tacky” Friday to helpthose in need this winter.

Students and faculty at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School were allowed to dress out of uniform in Christmas clothing, like “tacky” Christmas sweaters, in exchange for donations.

The goal is to bring warmth to the local homeless community.

The school also donated a check worth more than $700 St. Sebastian Veterans Services as part of the donation.

“Our veterans program is really geared towardshomeless individuals that have been on the streets, and the monies that wereceived today are gonna be able to help them get into their own apartmentswith leases in their own names,” said Mandy Lamey, Catholic Charities Of WestTennessee.

The school partnered with Catholic Charities of WestTennessee to provide warm gloves and hats.
