Bartlett woman starts new business to help families after her food company took a hit during the pandemic

Business is booming for 901 Yard Party Signs. Owner Amanda Higgs says she just took a risk.

BARTLETT, Tenn. — Covid-19 has forced many families to get creative when it comes to celebrating special occasions.

Drive-thru celebrations have become extremely popular.

A Bartlett woman, Amanda Higgs, who previously owned a natural dip company, switched gears when her business was losing sales. Higgs started 901 Yard Party Signs and the idea has taken off.

The idea started back in April when Higgs wanted to do something special for her son’s graduation from Christian Brother’s University. They were going to do a parade, but when she called a yard sign company they were booked up.

“Everybody was booked for a good month, month and a half out at that point,” Higgs explained. “And I’m like hold on just a second, maybe this is something that I can do.”

That’s exactly what she did. A few weeks later and 901 Yard Party Signs was created.

“I just jumped in and said, okay, we are going to see what happens, and here we are,” she said.

Business is booming now.

“The drive-by celebrations have been huge, which is such a neat idea - where you can social distance, but then still celebrate the person with a graduation or a birthday. I’ve done drive-by baby showers,” Higgs said.

And the best part about it is that she can still connect with her neighbors and provide for her family.

“It’s been a happy thing, at a time where there’s been a lot of not happy things going on,” Higgs explained.

She told Local 24 News she’s not sure if she will juggle both businesses once the pandemic is over. To learn more about her company, click here.
