Medical device manufacturer Zimmer Biomet to locate facility in Olive Branch

(MISSISSIPPI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY NEWS RELEASE) – Leading medical device manufacturer and supplier Zimmer Biomet is growing its distribution operations by locating a facility in Olive Branch. The project will create 100 additional jobs.

“Zimmer Biomet’s decision to invest in Olive Branch isa shining example of public-private partnerships collaborating to buildstronger communities through economic growth,” Gov. Phil Bryant said.“I appreciate the Zimmer Biomet team for placing its confidence inMississippi and our strong workforce, which I know will ensure the company issuccessful in Olive Branch for years to come.”

Zimmer Biomet will lease 120,000 square feet of a420,000-square-foot facility located along the Polk Lane corridor. From there,the company will distribute its products to medical facilities around theworld.

“Zimmer Biomet is excited to locate this importantdistribution facility in Olive Branch where we can leverage great shippinglogistics and a highly qualified local workforce,” said Zimmer BiometDirector of Operations Josh Stapleton. “We appreciate the support of theMississippi Development Authority and local leaders to encourage thisexpansion.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is providingassistance through the Health Care Industry Zone Incentive Program and theAdvantage Jobs Program. The city of Olive Branch and DeSoto County areproviding assistance in the form of property tax exemptions. 

“Zimmer Biomet found DeSoto County to be the bestlocation for distribution of their products due to the multiple transportationoptions available. Zimmer Biomet’s decision is evidence of the advantagescompanies can gain in the North Mississippi region, enabling them to achievetheir goals in today’s competitive marketplace,” said MDA Executive DirectorGlenn McCullough, Jr. “MDA salutes the leadership of the DeSoto CountyEconomic Development Council, the city of Olive Branch and DeSoto County, whichwas instrumental in bringing 100 new career opportunities to OliveBranch.”

Headquartered in Warsaw, Ind., Zimmer Biomet plans to beginoperations in Olive Branch in 2020.
