MEMPHIS, Tennessee —
In Monday's Ransom Note: what you are --and are not-- buying online.
First of all, we're buying so much, Amazon announced it can't keep up. So it's delaying delivery of non-essential items, or in some cases not even taking orders for non-essential products.
Now this information from retail intelligence firm Stackline is on all e-commerce sales. Toilet paper was number 11, not even the top ten.
Disposable gloves were first, up 670%. Then bread machines, cough medicine, soups, and rice and dried grains. Rounding up the top ten are packaged foods, fruit cups at number seven, followed by weights, milk and cream, and dishwashing supplies.
What aren't we buying online? Luggage is way down, so are briefcases, cameras, men's swimwear, bridal wear, men's formal wear, women's swimwear, rash guards, boys athletic shoes, and gym bags.
Stackline says the results show consumers are making positive lifestyle changes, more fitness products and cancelled travel plans are taking a toll.
But you can't help but wonder, where will things be a year from now?
