BARTLETT, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Thousands came out to celebrate America’s Independence Day early at Bartlett’s Star-Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza.
Families watcheda 20-minute fireworks display light up the sky. Many camped out asearly as 5:00 p.m. in the evening to get a decent spot.
This was the 20thyear for the show has been held at the Bartlett Performing Arts Center.
“Fireworks,fun and grandkids,” is what resident Frank Bilbro says keeps himattending year after year.
“I thinkjust being together,” said Bilbro. “Being together. We’ve beenin Bartlett for many years. This is a great event.”
A variety ofvendors sold carnival food favorites. Activities for the kidsincluded inflatables to play sports and even a spot to get atemporary tattoo.
“More andmore people are showing up,” said Vice-Mayor JackYoung. “You can park across the city and people park strategicallywhere they can see the fireworks without having to try and get here.”
Terrance Strahhan came for the first time this year, bringing with him his fiancée and family.
“We justcame on out, and came out to see the festivities and see the big fantasticfireworks display,” he said.
Organizers say inabout a week, they will meet to discuss how to improve next year’s fireworksdisplay.
