Man arrested in Michigan for Memphis murder earlier this month

U.S. Marshals arrested Rodney Berry, Jr. in Michigan, for the shooting death of Kevin Randolph on N. Trezevant earlier this month.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 9/29/2021 - U.S. Marshals arrested Rodney Berry, Jr. in Michigan, for a murder in Memphis earlier this month.

Memphis Police said September 16, 2021, Berry shot Kevin Randolph in the leg as Randolph sat on his front porch along North Trezevant Street. Investigators said Berry then took off. Randolph died at Regional One from his injuries.

U.S. Marshals said they got information Berry was in Michigan, and he was arrested without incident.

Berry is awaiting extradition to Shelby County on charges of second-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and possessing a firearm during commission of a felony.


9/16/2021 - A man is dead after being shot during a fight in northeast Memphis.

According to the Memphis Police Department, the shooting happened at 1512 N. Trezevant Street just before 3pm Thursday afternoon. Police said the victim and another person got into an argument when the shooting happened. 

The victim was taken to Regional One hospital but could not be saved. 

Police have not charged anyone, but they said there was a “known suspect.”
