MPD: Two in custody after two people killed and five others injured in shooting outside Prive

MPD said the shooting happened after an altercation inside the club late Wednesday night.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said two people are in custody after two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting at Prive restaurant Wednesday night.

MPD officers responded to the shooting in the 6900 block of Winchester about 11:15 p.m. on March 29, 2023. MPD said officers arrived to find two men shot in the parking lot. One died at the scene, the other was taken to Regional One Hospital, but he later died due to his injuries. 

Investigators said five other people were also shot and injured, and all went to the hospital in personal vehicles. MPD said they are a 35-year-old male, a 30-year-old male, a 25-year-old female, a 37-year-old male, and a 31-year-old male. As of Friday afternoon, MPD said four of the injured are still in critical condition, and one was released. 

Investigators said a fight started inside the club, and some of the individuals involved went to their cars and got guns, then began shooting. MPD said they are reviewing video footage from the scene.

Investigators said one of the suspects in custody faces a charge of first-degree murder, and the second faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. They are not currently releasing any more information on the suspects.

Police said they believe the two men who died were targeted in the shooting. They said the others who were injured may have been bystanders at the scene.
