MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man shot and killed his relative before taking his own life at a house in southwest Memphis Friday night, according to the Memphis Police Department.
It happened on Heartland Lane. Police arrived to the home around 3 p.m.
According to police, the suspect barricaded himself inside the house with the relative and a 4-year-old girl.
Police said they were able to negotiate the release of the girl. She exited the house unharmed. When police went inside the home, they found the shooting victim and the suspect unresponsive. Both died on the scene.
The investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing.
