(SHELBY COUNTY D.A. NEWS RELEASE) – A South Memphis man has beenindicted on second-degree murder charges in the strangulation death of hiselderly roommate earlier this year, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. AmyWeirich.
Defendant Robert Earl Jr., 58, is being held in the Shelby CountyJail.
The incident occurred on April 21 of this year at the apartmentEarl shared with 67-year-old Lee Nang Ng in the 100 block of East Utah Avenuein South Memphis. According to investigators, the two got into an argument thatturned physical and ended with Earl strangling his roommate to death.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Chris Lareau of theDistrict Attorney’s Vertical Team 3 which handles cases in General SessionsDivision 11 and Criminal Court Division 3.
