Reese Norris has led the Hernando Middle School choir for more than two decades.
His leadership has racked up dozens of awards and honors throughout the state and regionally, but he said nothing compares to what’s to come next month.
“When you go to sing, you have to be aware that you are going before 14,000 of the best ears in America listening to you,” said Norris, Choral Director.
Norris said the Hernando Middle School girls’ choir will get to perform during the American Choral Directors Association’s national conference.
“This is the most prestigious performance that a choir can have,” said Norris. “It’s also the most intense.”
The conference will feature some of the best middle, high school, collegiate, and professional choirs from around the country and around the world.
The Hernando Middle School girls’ choir is the only group performing from the Mid-South and the first and only group from Mississippi.
They will spend the next few weeks practicing, rehearsing and preparing, before taking the stage, showcasing their incredible talent.
