Local 24 News Anchor Katina Rankin visits with Jackson Elementary students for the Read to be Ready program

When children enter preschool and kindergarten teachers help students take their early experiences with language to the next level by reading.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – When children enter preschool and kindergarten, teachers help students take their early experiences with language to the next level by reading.

Jackson Elementary School knows the importance of literacy. The school recently kicked off their Read to be Ready week and Local 24 News Anchor Katina Rankin was honored to be a guest reader Wednesday. She read her first children’s book “Up North, Down South: City Folk Meet Country Folk” to the kindergarten through second grade classes.

Katina also passed out Katina’s Klassroom wristbands to remind the students to read at least once a day.

Thank you, Ms. Houston, for inviting Katina out.
