MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The University of Memphis is on pace to provide free tuition for low-income students by 2021.
Qualified students’ families must make at least $50,000 or less a year. Administrators say about 60% of households in Memphis fall under that threshold.
For now, the U of M is launching the Access Memphis initiative, where undergraduate students will only have to pay for 12 credit hours.
The program will also lock in tuition rates and provide on-campus employment opportunities.
