Officials are warning people on social media of a fake coupon making the rounds online.

The coupon claims to be a $150 “Black Friday” coupon from Kohl’s as part of an online promotion.

The scam is posted by “Kohl’s Club,” reading:

“Kohl’s is Rewarding each family with $250 OFF Coupon to celebrate Black Friday! Simple Like & Share This Post! And Comment Done! We Will Inbox Your Coupon Right Away!!!”

In response to the fake coupon, Kohl’s responded by saying the retailer is NOT currently running such a promotion and that they are working with Facebook to have the account shut down.

All of Kohl’s valid coupons can be found on kohls.com.

The Better Business Bureau has released the following three tips to help you identify similar gift card/coupon scams so you can avoid becoming a victim:

  • Don’t believe what you see. It’s easy to steal the colors, logos and header of an established organization. Scammers can also make links look like they lead to legitimate websites and emails appear to come from a different sender.
  • Legitimate businesses do not ask for credit card numbers or banking information on customer surveys. If they do ask for personal information, like an address or email, be sure there’s a link to their privacy policy.
  • Watch out for a reward that’s too good to be true. If the survey is real, you may be entered in a drawing to win a gift card or receive a small discount off your next purchase. Few businesses can afford to give away $50 gift cards for completing a few questions.
