Oxford mayor concerned about spike in cases possibly from Ole Miss campus

One of the students reportedly told doctors they had recently been to a fraternity party, which are currently banned.

OXFORD, Miss — Oxford, Mississippi, Mayor Robyn Tannehill says she's concerned after a recent spike in cases that appear to be coming from the Ole Miss campus.

She says the city's active case count jumped from 54 to 216 after it was found that more than 160 students had gone home and tested positive for the virus.

She said one of those students told doctors they had recently been to a fraternity party.

Frat parties are supposed to be banned under the school's social distancing guidelines.
