MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Combating breast cancer and its deadly effects can be as simple as a scan, but a lot of women say they don’t have the time or the access to get a mammogram. That’s why Baptist Women’s Health Center is hitting the road.
The mobile mammography unit provides both 2d and 3d mammogram screenings in about 15 to 20 minutes, and it’s covered by most health insurance plans. Baptist also has grant funds available through the Susan G. Komen Foundation for women who are uninsured or under-insured.
“Getting a yearly mammogram it is what saves lives. It’s what impacts what happens,” said Nikki Gast, Director, Baptist Women’s Health Center.
Tuesday, Oct. 22, Baptist’s mobile mammography unit will be in the Komen race store parking lot at Carrefour at Kirby Woods to provide mammograms for the community. it will be there from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
