MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A local healthcare center is now expanding to Jackson, Tennessee,all thanks to a grant.
Christ Community Health Services was awarded a “new accesspoint” grant worth $650,000 from the Bureau of Primary Health Care. Thegrant helps community health centers expand needed health care to under-servedand rural communities.
Christ Community will operate out of a center currently owned by FaithHealth Center.
“Of course, for me, it’s why not Jackson? There’sa huge need there, and we have learned through this process that a number ofresidents from Madison County have been traveling to Memphis receiving servicesfrom one of our locations,” said Shantelle Leatherwood, CEO of Christ CommunityHealth Services.
The new center in Jackson is expected to open by January.This will be Christ Community’s ninth location and first expansion outside of Memphisand Shelby County.
