MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Breathe in. Breath out. That’s your lungs working. Now imagineseeing your lungs working at twice your height. You can now do just that at theBaptist Cancer Center.

The hospital is holding a Mega Lungs inflatable exhibit duringlung cancer awareness month.

A doctor there says the number of cases in our areas continues togo up. Lung cancer is one of the top diseases that kills hundreds of Mid-Southernersa year.

But the disease is survivable.

“Lung cancer is our problem because although youwill hear that the death rate from lung cancer and the occurrence of lungcancer in America has been going down, if you took all of America and meshed ittogether, absolutely true for men since 1990, for women since 2002. In thecounties in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, actually, that’s nottrue,” said Dr. Ray Osarogiagbon, an oncologist at the Baptist Cancer Center.

Visitors can tour inside the lungs to learn about lungcancer, screenings, and reducing your risk for the disease.

The hospital was also given a $10,000 check tocontinue their life-saving research.
