MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- College graduation doesn’t just happen in May. In fact, more than 1600 students from the University of Memphis received their degrees Sunday as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
The University hosted two commencement services inside FedEx Forum.
Students received degrees from 11 different programs offered by the University.
Local 24 News asked a few of them about what’s next.
“I’m going to be a program associate at the community foundation for greater Memphis and I’m excited to start working with non-profits here in the city,” said Aerial Ozuzu, who received her Masters in Public Adminstration.
Abby Phillips, a graduate with a degree in School Psychology says,”It means that I have accomplished a lot in the past year and a half, but I still have more to go. So, I’d be a little more excited if I didn’t have to go back to school, but we’re here. We’re getting the Masters. It’s a good day.”
Two honorary degrees were given to FedEx CFO Alan Graf Jr. and Doctor Michael Spalding, founder of Equal Chance for Education.
