MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- A 74-year-old woman is recovering after she was hit by a car and robbed while taking a walk on Thursday.

It happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Gwynne and Colonial Road in East Memphis.

The woman was knocked unconscious, but survived to warn her neighbors.

A cop camera at the corners of the roads is most likely the link to catching whoever did this to the East Memphis woman out for a stroll.

We spent time with her Friday afternoon and she was in relatively good spirits.

She’s seen the video from that camera and it showed her what even she couldn’t remember.

Police camera video shows the moment a car crosses the street and hits the woman from behind, knocking her to the ground and unconscious.

“Just a normal day, three in the afternoon. Walking back to my house, strolling down Colonial Avenue,” said the woman.

We’re protecting her identity because of the nature of the crime.

What camera’s caught next is evidence this was no accident.

The car’s driver jumps out, runs over to the woman and grabs her only possession on her from her pocket.. her I-phone.

He then jumps back in the car and takes off, leaving her out cold in the street.

“I think I was hurting more than I was scared,” said the woman.

A man can be seen in the video driving the black 2004-05 Chevy Malibu, wearing a red sweatshirt, blue sweats, black beanie cap and white sneakers.

It’s who police are charging with criminal attempted first degree murder.

“Then I saw him driving off, but I never actually saw his face,” said the woman.

She says she never heard the car as it hit her, then she hit the pavement.

A UPS driver saw the woman crawling around in the street after it happened and called for help.

The woman says she’s only sore and tired now, but she had this strong message.

“First of all, I hope they catch this guy and punish him and I guess it serves as a lesson that you really need to pay attention,” said the woman.

Call Crime Stoppers if you know the man police are looking for.
