MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Family and friends gathered to remember the life of a Memphis patrolman killed in the line of duty on Sunday.
A dedication ceremony for Edward T. Broadfoot was hosted at the Forest Hill cemetery. There, officials unveiled a marker in his memory.
Broadfoot was murdered in the line of duty in 1918.
Kevin Williams of Crone Memorials did some research on Broadfoot and was surprised there was no marker in his honor.
“I just wanted to follow up on that story and ended up here where I found nothing, there was nothing to pinpoint where he was buried, no dedication or ceremony. Or anything that I know of and I just thought it was important that we get him a headstone,” said Williams.
Crone Memorials, Historical Haunts Memphis tours and Old Allen station raised funds to do this for this fallen solider.
They raised all the money needed in just one week.
