You could help decide what iconic Beale street will look like in the future.
The Downtown Memphis Commission announcing two design contests this week
There’s a design challenge for handy park and a contest for the Beale Street archway.
The commission wants Handy Park re-imagined as a multi-functional space far beyond just a concert and performance venue.
Two metal archways are also planned at either end of Beale. People are wanted to help design what they’ll look like.
Jennifer Oswalt, Memphis Downtown Commission, told Local 24 News, “Beale Street really impacts all of downtown. We really want to invest in our great asset and what’s good for Beale is good for downtown. It’s our job to build downtown and Beale St. is a part of that.”
You have until March 19th to enter the metal archway contest and April 27th to enter the handy park challenge.
