A former Memphis Police Officer has been sentenced to eight years in prison for drugs and weapons charges.
According to the FBI and MPD, Terrion Bryson, 26, and another officer, Kevin Coleman, escorted over two and a half kilos of heroin to a storage facility in Memphis in April of 2018.
Investigators say Coleman was on duty in his squad car, and Bryson was off-duty with a handgun in another car that had the heroin and an undercover MPD officer. Both Coleman and Bryson were arrested shortly after the incident.
In addition to his 8-year prison sentence, Bryson was sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised release.
Coleman was previously sentenced in November of 2018 to 10 years in prison.
Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings said, “No one is immune to consequences. If a law enforcement officer chooses to violate the law, swift action will be taken. It is our job to uphold the law, and that is what the officers of the Memphis Police Department will continue to do.”
