Former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis will be retired on embezzlement at making false representation charges in June.
Defense attorney Steve Farese tells Local 24 the trial on criminal charges is set to begin June 19th in Grenada County, in front of Judge Jimmy McClure.
Last year, the Mississippi Court of Appeals issued a ruling, saying the previous trial judge erred in not granting a change-of-venue request, due to publicity surrounding the case.
Davis was found guilty in 2014 on the two felony charges. A jury ruled he illegally bought an SUV, which Southaven leased, and was reimbursed for mileage while using city gas.
Davis lost an appeal to a civil ruling ordering him to repay Southaven $73,000 for personal purchases he made while in office.
