Germantown Holiday Parade

Despite the cold temperature and wet streets, Germantown residents bundled up to enjoy the annual holiday parade in their neighborhood.

Inclement weather pushed Saturday’s parade to Sunday to continue the more than 30-year tradition.

Because of the weather, no horses and fewer bands participated.

Local 24 News asked parade attendees what makes this parade so special that they would brave the conditions to be there.

Dennis Vaughn said, “It’s part of the local community, and I’ve got grandkids that I’m bringing down here, so I’ll be here.”

On why she attends the parade every year, Lois Roehrs told us, “It is just our quaint town showing its talents off with some invited friends as well. We’re 33-year Germantown residents, and we just enjoy it.”

Santa participated in the parade aboard a Germantown fire truck.

In support of the U.S. Marine Reserves Toys for Tots organization, uniformed marines and volunteers walked during the parade to collect new and unwrapped toys for children ahead of the Christmas holiday.
