DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. (localmemphis.com)- Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency after his state experienced severe weather early Saturday morning.
According to the Governor’s Facebook page, the declaration was signed because of extensive damage and high flooding conditions that are expected to be an ongoing threat in areas hit the hardest.
Authorities say state assistance will be necessary for local governments and the state as they assist with recovery efforts.
Bryant says crews are still accessing the damage and that he’s thankful no lives were lost due to the severe weather.
