Children and teens from across the country are in the bluff city this week, working to make our community better.
Tuesday, six students with “Catholic Heart Work Camp” spent the day painting the clothes closet at Catholic Charities. It is one of many projects campers will be doing while in Memphis.
Campers tell Local 24 it is important to help others.
“It just helps us feel more like we can actually do something instead of staying at home and not doing anything,” said Deloris Drendel from Genoa, Illinois. “It just gives us a sense that we are a part of all these communities.”
The Catholic Heart Work Camp is part of a nationwide program. Every summer, students travel to different areas and spend a week helping those communities.
