Grocery shopping is getting more convenient. Kroger at Trinity Commons in Cordova just unveiled “Scan, Bag, & Go”.
Customers use a hand-held scanner to scan items, then bag them with plastic bags available at kiosks in the store and put the items in their basket.
For produce, customers scan the bar code label under each item sold individually. And there are scales throughout the produce section to quickly weigh items sold by weight.
Shoppers can delete items and call for help by pushing a button on their scanner.
When done, shoppers scan a bar code at the self-checkout lane, pay for their groceries, and go.
“In addition to these devices, we also have a mobile app they can use which essentially works the same way. With one added benefit that they can actually pay in that app,” said Julius Jones with Kroger.
Receipts are checked at the door for shoppers who use the app.
Scan, Bag, and Go is only available right now at the Trinity Commons location. Kroger plans to add the option to other Mid-South stores within the next three years.
