MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Thanksgiving has come and gone, but it’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas in Downtown Memphis.
Sunday was the annual holiday tree lighting at the corner of Peabody Place and Main Street.
In addition to Christmas carols, there were arts and crafts and photos with Santa. Visitors also got to enjoy holiday cookies from Makeda’s Cookies.
“There’s nothing I hesitate to do less than to do the Christmas tree lighting downtown you have the Downtown Memphis Commission and it’s all for St. Jude so it’s a wonderful cause,” said Local 24 News anchor Richard Ransom. “Downtown is becoming more and more of an exciting place to be with each passing month and of course St. Jude is involved and there’s no better charity then that.”
Magic light wands were sold to help raise money for St. Jude. If you buy one you can sync the wand to your lights at home and turn them on and off with the push of a button.
