A Germantown High School junior has received a number of awards and honors, and she’s hard at work encouraging others to become leaders at school and in their community.
There are only 24 hours in a day, and for Divya Pinnaka rest can wait. The Germantown High School junior isn’t wasting time getting ready for her future.
At 16-years-old, her resume reads like a map to success.
“I am confident about my accomplishments but I’m never satisfied with it,” said Pinnaka. “I always believe I can do more and I can take my accomplishments to help other people.”
The aspiring entrepreneur and techie is committed to improving the world around her. Divya has won several awards, and she’s currently in the International Baccalaureate program at GHS.
“It’s not just about doing things for the sake of doing things,” said Pinnaka. “It’s about doing things and taking the time to know who you are.”
Divya speaks four languages. She founded the Innovation club at school as a freshman. She brought the MIT Launch club to Memphis, where teens from 5 different area schools work to make a difference in education.
“They are not only focused on academics, they are also focused on making a difference and brainstorm ideas to help the community and it’ll benefit them so much when they are older that they’ll have the mentality they can make a difference to come up wit the idea that can change the world,” said Pinnaka.
Divya hopes to one day attend MIT.
