SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (localmemphis.com) – Instead of a white out or a blackout, the city of Southaven had a pink out Thursday.
Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite and the board of aldermen declared today Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Employees in all departments participated by wearing pink, making signs, putting up pink balloons, and wearing pink ribbons.
“Breast cancer has affected every life and all of us have family members that have been affected, and you know it’s special to come together as a such a large group to show our support for it,” said Mayor Musselwhite.
They also decorated city hall and painted pink ribbons on softball fields at Greenbrook Park.
