COLUMBIA, Tenn. – A United Automobile Workers member hasreportedly died after being hit by a vehicle on a bridge outside the GM plantin Spring Hill.
Columbia police say Roy McCombs was struck about 6:00 a.m. by adriver crossing the bridge. McCombs was taken to the hospital, where he died. Policesay the driver is cooperating with investigators.
Striking UAW members have been picketing on the bridge sincemid-September amid contract talks with General Motors.
