HARDIN CO., Tenn. (localmemphis.com) A four-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being attacked by a dog in the child’s front yard last week.
According to police reports, the grandmother of the boy told a Harding County Deputy Sheriff the boy was playing outside Friday with the dog, and after “a little while,” she looked out a window and saw the child lying motionless with the dog standing over him.
The child suffered injuries to his ears and face but is in non-life threatening condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Per animal control policy, the dog, a medium sized mixed breed terrier, is in quarantine. A decision on what to do with the animal will be made after the mandatory 10-day evaluation period.
No charges have been filed.
