Patches for Fallen Officer

Local police departments are stepping up to answer a plea from a fallen officer’s family.

Officer Justin Billa was shot and killed during a standoff in Mobile, Alabama, last week. His family says he loved collecting first responder patches from across the country. To honor him, they’re asking for patches from other departments for his funeral services.

With the help of Local 24, first responders in Memphis and Germantown are answering the Billa family’s plea.

“These heroes never die. And as the families get ready to say their final farewell, we always want to ensure the brothers and sisters in law enforcement show up and show their support,” says Louis Brownlee with MPD.

Patches are headed to Alabama from as far away as Las Vegas. They will be delivered at officer Billa’s funeral Tuesday.
