MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- A local nail salon owner is doing her part to put some big smiles on students faces this week.

Kelah Carter, owner of Nail Lounge in East Memphis is wrapping up her 2nd annual Coat Drive, but she’s about 50 coats short of her goal of 200.

Carter is taking donations Sunday evening and Monday morning until noon before she drops them off at Winchester Elementary.

Carter says she stared this drive because she saw a need in the community.

“I hear stories everyday from my clients who are teachers, that say you know kids come to school angry or come to school with just a t-shirt on with no jacket, no coat, so I felt the need to help because if I can listen, I can help,” Carter said.

If you’d like to help donate a coat, you can do so at her salon at 376 Perkins Extended.  It’s above Robert Erwin Jewelers.

You can also reach out to her on Facebook under Kelah Carter, or call her at 901-421-5320.
