MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- More than 150 people grabbed their favorite bowling balls to raise money for a local non-profit called “Her.”
The 8th Annual Otis Sanford Bowl for Her Bowl-A-Thon was held at the All-Star Bowling Lanes in Southeast Memphis.
The event, which is founded and hosted by Local 24 political analyst and author, Otis Sanford, brings in money to help the local homeless population.
“Memphis is a place that does have a lot of poverty, and that’s unfortunate. But we have to address that in every way we can,” Sanford said. “We can’t just address it with government or tax money and all of that. So, individuals have to chip in. Organizations, nonprofits have to chip in.”
The “Her-Faith Ministries” is a non-profit charity that provides financial, medical, and food assistance to homeless women and children.
Sanford said that although the event is for a good cause, it was also very competitive as bowlers battled for the chance to win prizes and trophies.
