A local organization took the time out to show appreciation for our Mid-South heroes Saturday in Hickory Hill.
“Hamburger for Heroes” was a community event to honor the first responders who save lives every day.
Several members of the police, fire, and EMT departments showed up to eat hamburgers and chips offered to them.
One of the organizers for the event says that we need to honor these men and women for the courage they display each and every day.
“They go through so much, alright? They’re the first ones on the scene, okay? They run the battle instead of away from the battle, okay? And those of you all that have never been in a combat situation, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to go into the fight, instead of to run away from a fight,” said Alverto Austin of the Be Sober, Be Vigilant Protection Academy.
The Be Sober Be Vigilant Protection Academy aims to help the community protect themselves through self-defense and gun training.
