Volunteers Clean Up School Grounds

A Mid-South community organization has stepped in to fight blight at schools in North Memphis.

A group of volunteers met up Saturday to clean up around schools in the Raleigh area. The clean up included picking up trash, planting flowers and shrubbery.

The organizer of the clean-up event says this type of event helps to bring beauty to the community, brings neighbors together, and shows a love and appreciation for the area they live in.

It also shows the students the support they have from the community.

“That extra tender loving care just lets the children know that we respect our campus, we love you, and we want you to as well. It gives them an atmosphere that they can be creative and innovative and learn,” said Rhonda Logan of the Raleigh Community Development Corporation.

Raleigh Community Development Corporation plans to have two other events aimed at cleaning and beautifying the area.
