MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- A man has been charged after Memphis Police say he drove his car through street barricades during the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Saturday.
Investigators arrested Jerrick Canty at Madison Avenue and Manassas Saturday shortly after the crime.
According to an affidavit, police say Canty’s car, a 2018 Toyota Corolla disregarded the barricades and nearly hit officers directing traffic.
Police said after that Canty kept driving West on Madison at a high rated speed and almost hit a man and his 9 -year-old son while hitting more barricades until his vehicle was disabled.
Bartlett Police who was assisting MPD with marathon security was able to arrest Canty.
Canty faces four counts of aggravated assault.
