A Memphis man was indicted Tuesday on first-degree murder charges stemming from a shooting last year in South Memphis and on aggravated robbery charges in the armed holdups of two Family Dollar stores.

22-year-old Christopher G. Williams is charged in the shooting death of 39-year-old Anthony Beason on Sept. 4, 2016 in the 1600 block of South Lauderdale.  Beason was shot multiple times.

Williams was also indicted for aggravated robberies last year at the Family Dollar Store at 2500 Elvis Presley Blvd. on Sept. 15 and at the Family Dollar Store at 910 Jackson Ave. He also was indicted on aggravated assault in the first holdup for pointing a gun at an employee and threatening to kill her.

He was arrested by members of the Safe Streets Task Force following a tip to Crime Stoppers.
