MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- The Memphis Animal Shelter spent their Sunday, getting pets photo ready for their perfect forever home.

MAS says they plan to take in about 11,000 pets this year. They will also need the help of the public to get those animals in homes.

MAS and the Humane Society of Shelby County were chosen for a perfect exposure grant through Hearts-Speak to do just that.

The first of three days of training for employees and volunteers were on how to best photograph and market the pets so they will adopt.

“The more help we can get with showing the pets in their best light and letting the world know about them the better,” said Katie Pemberton, Community Specialist for the Memphis Animal Shelter. “So this program is not only encouraging people to help us but showing them how to do it.”

MAS says their next step is get more people into volunteering.

The animal shelter hosts a volunteer orientation for working with dogs every third Saturday of the month at noon.

If you have an open spot in your homem adoptions from MAS are $20.00 until Tuesday.
