Memphis leaders celebrate diversity as they look toward completion of convention center renovation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, members of Memphis City Council, and the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises community got together Wednesday to celebrate diversity.

The group gathered at the Cook Convention Center to congratulateeach other for efforts in providing meaningful diverse participation in the MemphisConvention Center renovation project.

City officials set a diversity spending goal of 30% – 50% of the $100million renovation.

“It’s the largest project we’ve been able to do todate. It’s been such a blessing for our company. It’s allowed us to growtremendously and it’s been such an awesome opportunity to work for the city andfor Yates,” said Jennifer Ransom, President of Ransom Group.

the target completion date is September first.
