A Memphis man faces several charges after his mother told police he vandalized her home and stole a lawnmower when she wouldn’t give him $2.

Police were called to the 3700 block of Barron Avenue about 12:50 a.m. Saturday. The mother told police that her son Bryan Harris, who lives with her, was angry she wouldn’t give him $2, so he kicked down a bedroom door, broke the glass in the backdoor, and stole a lawnmower she had sitting in the kitchen.

Police say about 3:00 a.m. Harris returned to the home, still angry and trying to fight his mother. Another woman was there and intervened, and police say Harris took a large rock and broke the windows out of his mother’s truck. The woman who had intervened told police she asked Harris to stop, and that’s when he slammed her into the ground and bit her on top of her head.

Police say when they arrested Harris, he kicked at the windows and doors of the squad car, despite warnings. They took him to Regional One first, where they say he resisted officers and staff. Police say Harris also threatened to “shoot and kill each officer as soon as he gets out of jail.”

Harris is charged with domestic assault, disorderly conduct, and vandalism. His bond was set at $25,000.
