A Memphis mother and daughter are charged after police say they stole from an 89-year-old woman.
Mother Tamika Brewster and daughter Teriqka Brewster face charges of theft, identify theft, and forgery.
According to the affidavit, the 89-year-old victim contacted police June 29th after she found four checks had been stolen from her home. She contacted the bank, and found they had been deposited in someone else’s account, totaling $3,600. Investigators say they determined the checks were deposited into Tamika Brewster’s account.
Police say bank video showed daughter Teriqka Brewster at an ATM depositing the forged checks into her mother’s account.
Investigators say under questioning, Tamika Brewster admitted to knowing the checks were deposited into her account and withdrawing the $3,600.
Both mom and daughter are out of jail with court dates set for next month.
