Thanksgiving is only days away, and the Memphis Police Department is doing its part to help feed the need.
Officers gave away more than 50 thanksgiving baskets to families in need Friday morning at the Old Allen Station in Raleigh. Police say giving away the turkeys doesn’t just help the community they serve, it also helps them, too.
“It makes me feel great,” says MPD Ofc. Christopher Freeman. “As police officers, we see a lot of the problems that a lot of people would never know about. To be able to alleviate some of those issues for a few families, it makes me feel great.”
The families were pre-selected with the help from local school principals and guidance counselors.
