A Memphis woman is charged with assault after police say she pulled a weapon on three people picking up Bird scooters for recharging.

It happened August 20th in the area of B.B. King and Madison. According to the affidavit, the victims told police they were picking up the scooters for recharging, when a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Kayla Bland, blocked their vehicle and pulled out a weapon on them. They told police Bland demanded the scooters be dropped off so she could have them.

The victims told officers they backed up the wrong way down B.B. King’s one-way area to get away from Bland. They said they dropped the scooters off near Bass Pro and called police.

Police say Bland was identified in a lineup. She is now charged with aggravated assault.

No bond was set, and Bland was released on her own recognizance.
