Mid-South Food Bank needs your help to replenish summer stocks

During the summer, people from more than 31 counties in the Mid-South suffer food insecurities, meaning they don't know where they'll get their next meal.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – During the summer, people from more than 31 counties in the Mid-South suffer food insecurities, meaning they don’t know where they’ll get their next meal.

Local organizations, businesses, and churches partner up with the Mid-South Food Bank to help fill the void.

The number of people with food insecurities spikes in the summertime, but it’s also the time when the food bank gets low on donations.

The Mid-South Food Bank relies on the generosity of public and private donations year-round because the food bank helps keep local pantries stocked.

“There’s a greater demand from food pantries that we distribute to our partner agencies. They’re in search of more food and we need more donations because more families are seeking out help more times in the summer when school is out,” said Andrew Bell with the Mid-South Food Bank.

A $5 donation provides 15 meals for families. One dollar provides three meals.
